Founded by the Leasure family, the Salmon Falls 50K was created as more than just an endurance event — it is a meaningful effort to raise critical funds and awareness in the fight against Type 1 Diabetes.

Hosted through Coloma River Races, this challenging point-to-point trail run showcases the breathtaking beauty of the Sierra foothills while bringing runners together in support of Breakthrough T1D, a global organization dedicated to accelerating life-changing breakthroughs to cure, prevent, and treat Type 1 diabetes and its complications. Race proceeds directly support research and innovation that improve lives within the T1D community.

The Leasure family’s personal connection to Type 1 Diabetes inspired the creation of this event, transforming a passion for trail running into a powerful fundraising tradition that has raised thousands of dollars for research over the years. Today, the Salmon Falls 50K continues to reflect their commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles, strengthening community connections, and advancing hope for a cure.
